To build the imodelVisitor application, you first need to have the MicroStation SDK and its prerequisites installed on your computer. Using the MicroStation Developer Shell provided with the SDK, change to the MDLProjects folder (The MDLProjects are installed to the My Documents directory for the user that installed the MicroStation SDK). Enter the command line BMAKE +ddebug to build the application with debug information. This creates a DLL and application file (.ma) in the mdlapps sub-directory (the mdlapps sub-directory is located under the MicroStation directory for the installation of MicroStation associated to this developer shell).
To build ExternApp, use VisualStudio 2005 or VisualStudio 2008 to open the solution. The solution is located in the MDLProjects folder (MDLProjects are installed to the My Documents directory for the user that installed the MicroStation SDK). Once in the project, set the directories for the necessary MicroStation include and library files. Review the source code and set the path-specific strings to locations on your computer. This will compile an executable. Run the EXE file in the debugger to explore the functionality.
