SYNCHRO Knowledgebase
The following section contains some frequently asked questions.
Q | What should I do if I can't find an answer for my question? |
A. | Feel free to contact us...
For more complex issues we may request System Information (see below), as well as information on your Graphics Cards, and Current SYNCHRO Settings (see the Export function in the Options dialog) |
Q. | How do I report problems? |
The first aim of an issue report is to let SYNCHRO Software Ltd see the failure with our own eyes. You can't be with us to make it fail, so you need to give us instructions so that we can make it fail for ourselves:
· | In case the first aim doesn't succeed, and SYNCHRO Software Ltd can't see it failing for ourselves, the second aim of a issue report is to describe what went wrong.
Describe everything in detail. State what you saw, and also state what you expected to see. Get screenshots and write down any error messages, especially if they have numbers in them. |
· | When your computer does something unexpected, freeze. Do nothing until you're calm, and don't do anything that you think might be dangerous. |
· | By all means, try to diagnose the fault yourself if you think you can, but if you do, you should still report the symptoms as well. |
· | Be ready to provide extra information if SYNCHRO Software Ltd needs it (we may typically ask for your System Information and details about your Graphics Card).
If we didn't need it, we wouldn't be asking for it. |
· | Write clearly. Say what you mean, and make sure it can't be misinterpreted. |
Above all, be precise.
Q. | How do I gather System Information for problem reporting? |
A. | There are a number of ways you can do this: |
1. | Within the SYNCHRO Client, see Help->About->System and use the Copy to Clipboard button. This will copy the system information detected by SYNCHRO into the windows Clipboard. From there it may be copied into an email, or saved to a file... |
2. | Within the SYNCHRO Client, see Help->About->System and press the Detailed System Information button, which will launch the msinfo32 tool (see below) |
3. | Use the MS-Windows System Information Tool, to export system data to a text file: |
i. | Open System Information or go to Start->Run and type msinfo32, and click OK. |
ii. | On the File menu, click Export. |
iii. | Select Text File in the "Save as type" |
iv. | In Save in, click a file location. |
v. | In File name, give the file a name, like "sysinfo.txt" |
Notes
· | To open System Information, click Start, and then click Help and Support. Click the Support button on the toolbar, and then, under Tools and Links on the left side of the window, click Advanced System Information. In the details pane, click View detailed system information. |
· | System information is automatically refreshed before a file is saved. |
