Ribbons

Overview

The Ribbons are displayed at the top of the application window.

·The File menu allows you to open existing, create new, save existing projects and print windows.
·Plan contains commands to create and edit tasks in the Task List, as well as options to customise the appearance of the Gantt chart
·Assign Resources contains commands and windows needed when assigning resources to the schedule to create the 4D model.
·3D contains commands for creating and editing 3D Objects, Workspaces, and 3D Paths
·4D Review contains commands and windows to be used when reviewing a linked 4D model including options to play through the Focus Time or Animations
·Project Controls contains tools for analysing your project data, for example via custom User Fields formulas, dynamic 4D Spatial Coordination, Baseline comparisons, and Resource Usage spreadsheets and graphs
·Reports contains commands to view, print, and/or export Schedule, 4D, and Usage reports
·Windows manages the composition of the SYNCHRO screen.
·Navigator contains more buttons to toggle on or off windows
·Help provides options to open this help file, open the help file index, search for topics/word in the help file, go to the SYNCHRO web site, and to find out about the version and contact addresses for SYNCHRO
·The Quick Access Toolbar (located at the very top of the application window) is customisable and keeps commonly used options always visible.

 

Right click in the ribbon to access the following context menu:

Add to Quick Access Menu - Right click over a specific command button to add it to the Quick Access toolbar

Customize Quick Access Toolbar - opens a dialog to choose which buttons to include in the Quick Access toolbar

Show Quick Access Toolbar Below the Ribbon - moves the Quick Access toolbar below the ribbon (normally shown above the Ribbon)

Customise the Ribbon - Customise which commands to include in the Ribbons and create custom Ribbons containing your frequently used commands

Minimize the Ribbon - Collapse the ribbon to show just the tabs containting the Ribbon names. When minimized, hover the mouse over the Ribbon name to temporarily display it

Save Customisation - After making any changes in the Customisation dialog, right click again in the Ribbon area and choose Save Customisation

Import Customisation File - Opens a dialog to browse to a saved ribbon customisation file (i.e. from another user or computer) for importing and applying

Export All Customisations - To share ribbon customisations with another user or computer, right click in the Ribbon area and choose Export All Customisations. Browse to a file location and choose a file name. The customisation file will be saved as an XML.

Help - Opens the Help topic related to the selected Ribbon
