Options>Gantt Chart>Rescheduling>Parameters

Rescheduling the project updates it to take account of any changes to Tasks, Links (task relationships) or any Task Constraint changes that may have been made.

SYNCHRO is designed to reschedule the project in one of two ways: either Automatically whenever a change which can affect the project schedule is made; or Manually when you decide the project should be rescheduled.

·Disable Rescheduling Options dialog - This will be checked if "Do not ask again" is checked in Reschedule Options dialog. Uncheck it here to show the dialog again when Rescheduling
·Enable Automatic Rescheduling is disabled by default.

When this option is disabled (deactivated), the project is only rescheduled when the user presses Reschedule (F9)

When enabled, the entire project will automatically be rescheduled whenever any changes are made to the schedule

·The Confirm Rescheduling results option, when selected, will prompt the user to confirm that project rescheduling should take place. This option only applies when Automatic Rescheduling is enabled.
·Use Expected Finish Dates - When enabled, the Expected Finish Dates (if any) in Task Properties>General>Constraints are used in rescheduling. When disabled, they are ignored. See Expected Finish for explanation of how the dates are used
·Do not reschedule Tasks without Predecessors and Constraints - When enabled, Tasks with no predecessors, or constraints will not be rescheduled when  Reschedule is run (F9) - i.e. the tasks will keep their start and finish dates. Tasks may have sucessors. When disabled, tasks without predecessors or constraints will be rescheduled according to the Project>Details settings (e.g. they will be moved back to the Data Date).
·Do not reschedule Tasks that have no Links and Constraints - When enabled, Tasks with no predecessors, successors, or constraints will not be rescheduled when  Reschedule is run (F9) - i.e. the tasks will keep their start and finish dates. This allows the user to manually schedule some tasks if desired while using predecessor/successor logic to automatically reschedule other tasks according the CPM. When disabled, tasks without links or constraints will be rescheduled according to the Project>Details settings (e.g. they will be moved back to the Data Date).

TIP: To find tasks that meet the criteria (no links and constraints), ensure that "Open Ends" is enabled in Options>Gantt Chart>Rescheduling>Report, then run the Reschedule Report from the Home ribbon. After running the report, a list of Tasks without Links and Constraints will be listed in the Alerts window. Select a task from the list to jump to it.

·Snap To allows you to define how the rescheduled tasks are scheduled in the Gantt chart. When a Task is rescheduled, it will snap in the specified increments of time. The Snap To option defines the default value. For example if Snap To is set to Day and you have two tasks of 1.5 days linked in a chain with Finish to Start relationship, the second task will not be able to start immediately after the first task (half way through the day). Instead its start time will “snap” to the beginning of the next full day. Therefore the second task would finish 3.5 days after the start of the first. On the other hand, if Snap To is set to Minute, the second task can start at the beginning of the next minute after the first finishes. Therefore it will start immediately after the first and will finish 3 days after the start of the first.
·Disable Start Key Dates to finish of a working day - when enabled, Start Key Dates cannot be scheduled at the finish of a working day according to the task's calendar. When disabled, there are no restriction on when a Start Key Dates can be scheduled (same behavior as P6)
·Disable Finish Key Dates to start of a working day - when enabled, Finish Key Dates cannot be scheduled at the start of a working day according to the task's calendar. When disabled, there are no restriction on when a Finish Key Dates can be scheduled (same behavior as P6)
·The Link Calendar to use during rescheduling options allows the user to choose how SYNCHRO calculates the link delays each time the project is re-scheduled:
ØCalendar assigned to Link task link delays will be calculated using the calendar assigned to that particular link.

TIP: When importing schedules from Microsoft Project XML that have elapsed duration in the lag format, use this option for rescheduling

ØProject Calendar (default) – task link delays will be calculated using the main project calendar.
ØUpstream Task – task link delays will be calculated using the calendar of the task supplying the link start.
ØDownstream Task – task link delays will be calculated using the calendar of the task supplying the link end.
ØNone (use Elapsed) – task link delays will be calculated using time between two tasks.
·The On scheduling progressed Tasks use option allows the user to choose how SYNCHRO calculates the schedule.  Each scheduling calculation may produce different planned dates and/or float depending on the tasks’ actual dates and if any tasks are out-of-sequence.
ØRetained Logic: this calculation option does not allow an incomplete, out-of-sequence task to resume until all predecessor tasks are complete.
ØProgress Override:  this calculation option ignores out-of-sequence logic relationships and allows a tasks and its successors to proceed as planned even if the task’s predecessor is not complete.
ØActual Dates: this calculation option is similar to the Retained Logic calculation - it does not allow an incomplete, out-of-sequence task to resume until all predecessor tasks are complete.  The calculation is different from the retained logic calculation because the Total Float is based on what the late dates would have been had the activities completed based on the planned sequence.
ØMSP Compatibility Mode is the mode for compatibility with Microsoft Project and with the scheduler used in SYNCHRO versions prior to 4.10
